The most common question I get asked before implant consultations isn't "will it hurt?" It's "how much will it cost?" — and I completely understand why.
Dental implants are a significant investment. And in Ranchi, prices vary wildly — from ₹15,000 at some clinics to ₹80,000+ at others. If you're trying to make a sensible decision, you deserve a clear explanation of what drives those numbers. Not marketing. Just the honest answer.
What a dental implant actually is
A dental implant is not a single item. It's a three-part system:
The three components
1. The Implant
Titanium post
Surgically placed into jawbone. Fuses over 3–4 months.
2. The Abutment
Connector piece
Attaches crown to the implant. Custom-fitted.
3. The Crown
Ceramic tooth
The visible part. Shade-matched to your natural teeth.
When a clinic quotes you ₹15,000, ask exactly which of these three components are included. In many cases, that price is for the titanium post only — the abutment and crown are billed separately, bringing the real total much higher.
What does a dental implant cost at White Oak Dental Studio?
At White Oak, implant treatment starts from ₹25,000 per tooth. This is an all-inclusive price covering:
- CBCT 3D scan and digital implant planning
- The titanium implant (from a reputable certified system)
- The abutment
- A custom zirconia ceramic crown
- All follow-up appointments for 12 months
There are no hidden line items. Before the implant is placed, you receive a full written treatment plan with itemised costs. What we quote is what you pay.
What makes some implants cost more?
Four factors genuinely affect the cost of an implant:
1. The implant brand and system. Generic, unbranded implants from low-cost manufacturers do exist. They're cheaper upfront. But long-term data on their survival rates, and access to compatible components in the future, is limited. We use certified implant systems with documented clinical outcomes.
2. Whether bone grafting is needed. If you've been missing a tooth for a long time, the surrounding bone may have resorbed. In these cases, a bone graft is needed before the implant can be placed — this is an additional procedure with its own cost, typically ₹8,000–15,000.
3. The type of crown. Zirconia (metal-free ceramic) crowns are more expensive than PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal) crowns, but they look more natural, don't show a dark line at the gum, and are more biocompatible. We use zirconia as our standard.
4. The number of implants and the case complexity. Single tooth replacement, multiple teeth on implant-supported bridges, and full-arch restorations (All-on-4 / All-on-6) are very different in scope and cost. Full-arch cases require significantly more planning, surgical time, and lab work.
Implants vs. bridges vs. dentures — which is actually cheaper?
| Option | Upfront cost | Lifespan | 20-year cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dental Implant | ₹25,000–40,000 | Lifetime (implant) 15–20 yrs (crown) |
₹30,000–50,000 |
| Dental Bridge | ₹20,000–35,000 | 10–15 years | ₹40,000–70,000 |
| Partial Denture | ₹8,000–18,000 | 5–7 years | ₹32,000–72,000 |
The upfront cost of an implant is higher — but over 20 years, it's often the most cost-effective option. Bridges require drilling into adjacent healthy teeth. Dentures need relining and replacement every few years. Implants, when properly placed and maintained, are the only restoration that also preserves your jawbone.
Is it worth the cost?
That depends on what matters to you. If you're replacing a back tooth that no one sees and you're comfortable with a denture, a less expensive option might suit you. But if you want something that functions exactly like a natural tooth — one you don't think about — then an implant is the only option that delivers that.
I've placed hundreds of implants. Patients who were hesitant about the cost almost universally tell me, a year later, that it was worth every rupee. It's the one restoration where patients forget they ever had a problem.
The question isn't whether you can afford an implant. It's whether you can afford to keep replacing the cheaper alternatives every 5–10 years.
Book a consultation to get your personal cost estimate
Implant pricing is case-specific. The only way to know your exact cost is to have your jawbone evaluated — typically with a clinical exam and a 3D CBCT scan. At White Oak, this consultation includes a full written treatment plan and cost breakdown before any decision is made.
